Increase in death rate in the North due to irresponsible action of the government – Gajendran

Selvarasa Gajendran, general secretary of the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) and a member of parliament, has blamed the Rajapakse government’s reckless actions for increasing the coronavirus outbreak and death toll in the northern province.

He visited the Jaffna Bhodhana Hospital and spoke to the media. He further said,

“The coronavirus vaccination process is politically motivated. Our province would not have suffered such dire consequences if the Rajapaksa government had already provided coronary vaccinations to the Northern Province. The rate of infection and the number of deaths have increased here due to the irresponsible actions of the government.

The government is trying to spread coronavirus by bringing small quantities of vaccines for the vast population of Jaffna. It is not a public interest activity. Angajan Ramanathan, Douglas Devananda, and Namal Rajapaksa have joined hands to seek political gain.

If the coronary vaccine had been handed over to the health department they would have given it to the people better. When conditions deteriorate, there is an attempt to make political gains.

Public property at the Privatization Center has been damaged. It should be monitored by the administration. Property of National College of Education students. It is important to take responsibility for the fact that Kopay National College of Education has been converted into an isolation center for the benefit of the people in times of crisis. This should be monitored by the hospital management.”
