COVID-19: Trincomalee Urban Council announces decision to close commercial establishments

Trincomalee Urban Council Chairman Rajanayakam said a decision had been taken to close the commercial establishments in Trincomalee for one week from today.

Trincomalee district has reported more than 6396 COVID-19 cases and 164 deaths, according to the Trincomalee district secretariat.

The District Secretariat has instructed the public to stop non-essential movements.

Accordingly, at the request of the Trade Association and traders association, Trincomalee Urban Council has decided to close vegetable markets, fish markets and private shops for a period of one week from today.
