Sri Lankan Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila today (17) admitted that the country is facing a foreign currency crisis.
“The reality is that we are in a foreign currency crisis. Fuel accounted for 18% of the nation’s import bill in the first half of 2021. It may be around 25% in the second half,” the Minister tweeted in his official Twitter handle.
The Minister urged the public to use fuel economically to save foreign currency for much-needed medicine and vaccines.
