Tamil Progressive Alliance leader and Member of Parliament Mano Ganesan have said that ” Tamils within the government should tell the president that commenting ill about the dead is such a disgraceful activity to do.”
Mano Ganesan, in the post condemning the demolition of the Mullivaikkal memorial on his social media he further said,
“Like the tomb erected in memory of the Sinhalese people killed during the uprisings in the south, the Mullivaikkal memorial, erected in memory of the war-torn Tamil people, was smashed during the Sri Lankan military siege.
We condemn this deliberate act. We also call on the Sinhala progressive forces and Buddhist community leaders to condemn this indecent act.
The government’s long-term tactical policy of diverting national attention. occasionally racializing Tamil and Muslim people to prevent the country’s real national problems of failing to eradicate corona disease and “giving way the port city to China” from coming to the attention of the Sinhalese people Tamil and Muslim ministers and MPs inside should take it to President Godapaya Rajapaksa.

In the south, monuments have been erected in memory of the Sinhalese people killed during the 1971 and 1989 uprisings. Similarly, the Mullivaikkal memorial is being erected in memory of the Tamil people who lost their lives in the war.
