A local militant was killed in a gunfight with the Indian security forces in Wagoora Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Police said yesterday.
The gunfight broke out after J&K Police and Central Reserve Police Force launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area following the tipoff about the presence of militants.
The police source said that the killed militant identified as Uzair Ashraf Dar, son of Mohd Ashraf Dar, a South Kashmir’s Shopian district resident.
