Boat carrying refugees capsizes near Spain’s Canary Islands

Spanish authorities say at least three people have died and four including a child are missing after a boat carrying nearly 50 refugees capsized near Spain’s Canary Islands.

The developments came as two other boats carrying a total of 110 people reached the other Canary islands of Fuerteventura and El Hierro on Friday, according to the regional emergency services.

In 2021 till now, at least 130 people who attempted the Mediterranean sea crossing have died or are missing, according to the International Organisation for Migration’s Missing Migrants Project.
