Tamil political prisoner released after 8 years of detention

Tamil political prisoner Nades Guganathan from the Udayarkattu region of Puthukudiyiruppu, Mullaituvu has released yesterday, following the court directions. 

The Sri Lankan Army arrested Nades on 2009 May 19 on the charges of being associated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE). He was jailed for three years, later detained for one more year for rehabilitation based on the order of Sri Lankan court, then released on March 23 2013.

Suddenly, in July 2013, he was arrested after he called for interrogation over the phone. Then detained in notorious Boosa detention camp, later transferred to Welikada prison.

After 8 years of detention, Colombo Magistrate’s Court had released him on September 16.
