Tamil Nadu Ministers inspect Eelam Tamil refugee camp

Tamil Nadu Ministers K S Masthan, S M Nasar have inspected and asked the grievances of Eelam Tamil refugees living in a refugee camp situated at Kavankarai near Puzhal, Chennai.

Around 100 families live in the camp, and most of them earn their bread through daily wage works.

K S Masthan, state minister for minorities welfare and non-resident Tamils welfare – minorities welfare, non-resident Tamils welfare, refugees and S M Nasar, state minister for milk and dairy development, visited the camp today to inspect. Following the visit, the ministers received the grievance petitions from the refugees and advised the relevant local authorities to provide the required assistance.

According to the official data, 58,843 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees are staying in 108 refugees camps around Tamil Nadu, while 34,135 are staying as non-camp refugees, but they have registered with the local police.
