An Afghan commander said the Taliban insurgents first shot Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui during clash with Afghanistan forces in Spin Boldak and later disrespected and mutilated his body when they learnt about his Indian identity, India Today reported.
The Afghan commander claimed that the Taliban insurgents disrespected and mutilated the body of Danish Siddiqui because of his Indian nationality. “Taliban hate Indians,” the Afghan commander said.
Bilal Ahmed who claims to have been associated with the Afghan forces for five years revealed details of the day Danish Siddiqui was killed. The Afghan commander told India Today that the Taliban fighters first shot Danish Siddiqui along with an officer during clashes in the town of Spin Boldak, near the border with Pakistan.
Bilal Ahmed alleged that when the Taliban learnt about his identity and Indian citizenship, they then ran over a vehicle over his head. This is when the Taliban knew that Danish was already dead, the Afghan commander said.
India Today also spoke to a Taliban spokesperson on the phone who refuted the claims of the Afghan forces. The spokesperson said that Taliban fighters were not responsible for the death of Danish Siddiqui.
“We did not kill him. He was with enemy forces. If any journalist has to come here, he should talk to us. We are already in touch with journalists in the country,” Taliban spokesperson and commander Moulana Yousaf Ahmadi said on the phone.
