The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to kick start 25 new development projects in the main cities. According to the sources, these 25 projects will be situated in Kandi, Colombo, Kurunegala, Ratnapuram, and Trincomalee. The Government has decided to acquire private lands for these projects and has also agreed to pay proper remuneration to landowners.
As the government has already passed the bills for the accusation of lands, It is still to make changes on the bill. Colombo metro expansion project, laying rail track from Kurunegala to Dambulla via Habana are the main projects among these 25 projects. Meanwhile, one of these basic developmental projects in Kandi and kali cities will be implemented with the help of the world bank. Similarly, the reconstruction of the Anuradhapuram project will be executed with the financial help of France. Also, Trincomalee, Dambulla, Kurunegala, and Ratnapuram will be reconstructed with the help of development banks
