The Sri Lankan Court has extended the remand of Former Sri Lankan Minister and Vanni district Member of Parliament Rishad Bathiudeen till October 14th over the death of a 16-year-old domestic aide at his residence.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya today denied bail to the MP Rishad Bathiudeen and ordered the Superintendent of Prisons to produce the suspect in court on October 14th.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, Rishad will not be produced before the court, the prison said in a report submitted to court. The magistrate has denied bail on the grounds that if the suspect was granted bail, he could influence investigators and witnesses.
