Sri Lanka seeks Japan to resolve International issues

Sri Lankan government is to seek Japanese assistance to resolve some of the issues it is being confronted with at international forums.

Recently, Canada has issued travel warning to their people as Sri Lanka is heading to civil unrest due to the economic disaster.

The Sri Lankan government in 2021 suppressed minority communities, harassed activists, and undermined democratic institutions, Human Rights Watch said in its World Report 2022.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris told a news conference recently that Japan had already played that role in presenting and interpreting Sri Lanka’s point of view to other countries. He said Japan is well qualified to do it because of empathy, compassion, gentleness and consensus shown by Japanese culture.
