Sri Lanka: Batticaloa people facing a severe livelihood crisis

Continuous Covid-19 travel restrictions in Sri Lanka are put Tamil people in Batticaloa at the risk of livelihood crisis.  

Due to the Covid-19 related restrictions, daily wage labourers and cottage workers have been severely affected; in particular, the single female-headed households face a severe livelihood crisis.

Especially in the border villages of Batticaloa district of Eastern Province, which slowly improving from the scars of war are once again caught up in the economic crisis.  

According to the local sources, Vakarai, Kiran, Eravur, Vavunativu, Pattipalai, Porathivu Pattu are the most affected regions.
