Sri Lanka’s new Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa met the Ambassadors of the United States, Germany, China, Russia, the European Union and the High Commissioners of Britain and India yesterday (14) for the first time after he was sworn in as finance minister.
US Ambassador Alaina Teplitz, German Ambassador Holger Lothar Seubert, Russian Ambassador Yuri B. Materiy, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong, Ambassador of European Union Denis Chaibi and Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay and Ambassador of United Kingdom, Sarah Hulton called on Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and held bilateral discussions, the Sri Lankan Finance Ministry said in a press release.
During the bilateral talks, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka has focused on creating a green economy and seeks support from those countries for the Renewable Energy Promotion Program.
Basil Rajapaksa further said that the Sri Lankan government is also focusing on upgrading the infrastructure required for the development of the transport sector in an environmentally friendly manner while minimizing fuel consumption.
