JUSTIN: Sri Lankan Police interrogates Tamil journalist amid Covid-19 threats

Today, Batticaloa District Tamil Journalists Union Treasurer and independent journalist Punniyamoorthy Sasikaran was questioned by the Sri Lankan Police Special Crime Branch at Batticaloa’s Office of the Superintendent of Police.

The investigations were carried out from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. this morning.

The police carried out the inquiry regarding the tribute event to Indian fishermen killed last January, Sasikaran said.

Last January, four fishermen from Tamil Nadu, India, died after their boat collided with a Sri Lankan Navy vessel.

Sasikaran pointed out that investigations were being carried out to intimidate journalists amid Covid-19 threats.
