Ex MP Kadirgamathambi Thurairetnasingam died due to Corona infection

Former Trincomalee MP Kadirgamathambi Thurairetnasingam has due to corona infection.

He was admitted to Kantalai Base Hospital with a coronary infection and was pronounced dead last night.

Thurairetnasingam was born in Senaiyur, Moodhur, at Trincomalee District, he was educated at the Senaiyur Methodist Mission Tamil Kalavan School and St. Anthony’s School, Moodhur, and later trained as a teacher at the Batticaloa Teacher Training College.

After working in many schools since 1960, he has promoted to Principal of Senaiyur Central College in 1982. In 1998 he was appointed as the Assistant Director of Education in the Trincomalee Regional Education Department and later retired as the Thambalagama Divisional Education Officer.

Thurairatnesingam contested the 2001 parliamentary elections in the Trincomalee constituency on behalf of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA). He came third among the TNA members and was not elected to parliament. However, he was replaced by TNA’s National List MP M. Shivasithambaram in June 2002 following his death.

He contested and won the Trincomalee constituency in 2004. He did not contest the 2010 elections for personal reasons.

Thurairatne Singam contested the 2015 parliamentary elections as a TNA candidate in the Trincomalee district and was not elected to parliament. He was later appointed a Member of Parliament on the National List of the Tamil National Alliance.
