Chinese Ambassador visits to North

Security has been beefed up in Vavuniya following the visit of Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong to Jaffna today (15).

Chinese Ambassador traveled to the North today to attend an event to donate relief items to fishermen in Jaffna and Mannar districts as a gift from the Chinese Embassy.

The visit comes after China announced that it had suspended its projects in the north due to Indian intervention.

Friendship between China, Asia’s superpower, and the Tamil people is good for the Tamil people future, a political commentator said to the Quest.

During the ceasefire agreement in 2002, Chinese embassy officials visited the Vanni and met with the LTTE and both parties developed good relationship.
