Buddhist monk, who spoke for the minority died due to corona

The first Buddhist priest to be elected to the Sri Lankan Parliament, Paddegama Samitha Thera, a former member of the Southern Provincial Council, has died at the age of 69 due to a corona infection.

After being treated at a private hospital in Matara and he died due to corona.

Representing the left-wing Lanka Sama Samaja Party, he was elected to parliament from the Galle district and held the post from 2001 to 2004.

It is noteworthy that he was very concerned about the interests of the Tamil and Muslim people and was adamant that a political solution should be found for the minority people.
