Afghanistan: Resistance group says struggle continues despite Taliban claims victory

The anti-Taliban resistance force in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Valley vowed to fight against the Taliban forces, despite the Taliban saying they had captured the area.

“Panjshir province completely fell to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Twitter.

“Taliban’s claim of occupying Panjshir is false. The NRF forces are present in all strategic positions across the valley to continue the fight. We assure the ppl of Afghanistan that the struggle against the Taliban & their partners will continue until justice & freedom prevails,”
National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA) said it via Twitter.

“Our compatriots, wherever you are, whether outside or inside, we call on you to start a general uprising for the sake of the honor, freedom, and pride of our homeland,” NRFA leader Ahmad Masud said in an audio message released by the group on September 6.

“Everyone can stand up in any way they can and shout loud – we will never accept humiliation,” Masud said, adding that Afghans can fight in any possible form — either via armed struggle or by conducting protests.
