The World Bank (WB) yesterday expressed grave concerns on the current status of Sri Lanka, as the protestors came under attack by the pro-government supporters.
We are deeply concerned with the perpetration of violence in #SriLanka. Those responsible are only standing in the way of the country’s immediate economic recovery and making the task even more difficult for development partners.

Meanwhile, Julie Chung, American ambassador condemned the violence against peaceful protestors, and she called on the government to conduct a full investigation, including the arrest & prosecution of anyone who incited violence.
We condemn the violence against peaceful protestors today, and call on the government to conduct a full investigation, including the arrest & prosecution of anyone who incited violence. Our sympathies are with those injured today and we urge calm and restraint across the island.
