Ceylon Teachers’ Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin and many others were released from the Mullaitivu quarantine centre yesterday.
They were arrested after they launched a protest against the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Bill on July 8 and were released on bail. But when they came out of courtrooms, they were forcefully taken away for quarantine.
Earlier, education trade unions said that union leaders and many others were illegally detained at the quarantine centres after being arrested.
