Trincomalee: Tamilian abducted at gunpoint

A Tamil resident from Trincomalee district of Eastern Province abducted today by unknown armed persons has again raised fears among the Tamil community.

“Manoharadas Subash (39) of Varodhyan Nagar, Trincomalee, a Tamil released from military rehabilitation, abducted at gunpoint by an armed group claiming to be from Uppuveli police today (28) around 6 am while a European Union rights monitoring team is in #SriLanka. Police deny knowledge,” according to the tweet posted in the Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka account.

Following the abduction, Manoharadas Subash’s mother and wife filed a complaint with Trincomalee human rights commission. They expressed fear that they were unable to trace the whereabouts of their family member.
