Tamil young journalist Pragas Gnanapragasam dies of Covid-19

Pragas Gnanapragasam, a 26-year-old Tamil young journalist from Jaffna, Northern Province, died today after contracting Covid-19.

His death just happened one day after the journalist publicly tweeted about contracting the Covid-19.

“I tested positive for Covid 19 today after five days fever. now health normally good. I muscular dystrophy patient but so far not vaccinated me,” Pragas tweeted it on September 1.

Earlier, Pragas had raised concerns about the Sri Lankan government’s negligence in providing vaccines to muscular dystrophy patients like him.

“Covid-19 safety for us?:- Patients with Muscular Dystrophy are usually alive a short-life. They struggle to survive for that lifetime. The Pandemic of Covid-19 has become another enemy of these patients,” Pragas tweeted it on June 6th.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of 26 year old vibrant #Tamil journalist @PragasGnanam’s passing away in #Jaffna, due to COVID19,” JDS Lanka tweeted.
