A surprise meeting between the political rivals Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and former Prime Minister MP Ranil Wickremesinghe has raised doubtful questions about the motive behind this meeting.
According to the Daily Mirror, Ranil’s United National Party said there was no secret political discussion between them.
“Both Mr Rajapaksa and Mr. Wickremesinghe attended the birthday party of Mr. Wickremesinghe’s neighbour down 5th lane Colombo 3. They never discussed politics, particularly on the latest Cabinet reshuffle and changing of institutions coming under the Prime Minister,” UNP said.
