Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Canada: Sri Lanka replaces the appointment of accused war criminal

The Sri Lankan government has now appointed a new High Commissioner after the Canadian government rejected the appointment of former Air Force Commander, accused war criminal Sumangala Dias as Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Canada.

The Sri Lankan Government has appointed Harsha Navaratne, who served in the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, as Sri Lanka’s new High Commissioner to Canada, the Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs said. The efforts by the Sri Lankan government to reverse Canada’s decision on the appointment of Sumangala Dias has not succeeded.
