Sri Lankan Navy suspends Naval Cardiologist for child sexual exploitation

The Sri Lanka Navy’s Lieutenant Commander, Cardiologist who was arrested for sexually exploiting the 15-year-old girl child has suspended by the Commander of the Navy. 

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne suspended the service of the officer with effective from today, the Navy Spokesman Captain Indika de Silva said. 

He said the naval heart surgeon was suspended in support of the further investigations and judicial proceedings in connection with this incident.

The navy said that they will conduct a separate internal investigation into the incident at the behest of Commander of the Navy, the Sri Lankan media Daily Mirror reported.
