While addressing the Sri Lankan Parliament, Tamil Parliamentarian Sivagnanam Shritharan said that the Sri Lankan government forces had killed many Tamil children.
Amid interruption by the Sinhala Parliamentarians, Tamil MP Shritharan listed the number of children killed in the Navali massacre, Semmani massacre, Sencholai massacre. He also mentioned the killing of Balachandran, the youngest son of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran by the Sri Lankan Forces.
“Even though Sri Lanka is a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Tamil children did not have the basic rights in this country. Even the right to life has been snatched away by Sinhala-Buddhist chauvinists,” Tamil MP Shritharan pointed out.
