Sri Lanka suspends gas distribution

The Sri Lanka’s two main LP gas distributors have been advised to suspend their distribution until they find correct formula, the State Ministry of Co-Operative Services said.

This decision has come after recent gas explosion incidents reported throughout the country. They said the decision was taken yesterday.

The ministry informed the gas distribution companies need to add ethylene propionate, which makes propane gas odorant.

Ethyl Mercaptan is an additive that is combined with liquified petroleum gas, or LPG, to alert users of a leak.

But Sri Lanka did not find any solution to prevent the gas cylinder explosion, so we can expect more explosions in the future, an analyst told to the Quest.
