A handcuffed male body was recovered from the Kelani River near Colombo this afternoon, the Sri Lankan police said.
The man’s hand are handcuffed and found with two bullet wounds in his head. The police said the body is suspected to be around fifty years old.
The Hanwella Police had received a complaint that a person had been abducted on June 23 by a group at a house in Hanwella (30 kms away from Colombo) after being handcuffed.
The Police also suspect that the recovered body might be the abducted person.
It is to be noted that consumer rights activist Asela Sampath has been abducted by some 20 unidentified persons in a white Van (NE 0833) around 8.30 pm yesterday (25) after assaulting him and his family members. Later, the Sri Lankan Criminal Investigations Department has confirmed that the activist was arrested in Piliyandala, 18 kms away from Colombo.
