Sri Lanka extends islandwide Covid-19 lockdown till Sept. 13

The current islandwide Covid-19 lockdown has been extended till September 13, Sri Lankan Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella announced.

The President Gotabaya Rajapaksa took the decision at a special committee meeting chaired by the President this morning (03), Presidential Spokesman Kingsley Ratnayake tweeted it only in the Sinhala language.

“Recommendations determine that progress will be made via the ongoing Vaccination Drive in the interim to curb the current spike,” Minister Rambukwella tweeted.

The decision was taken following a meeting held between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the COVID-19 Task Force held today morning.
