Tamils in Jaffna district are pushed back in another attempt by the Sri Lankan Navy to grab civilian land for a navy base.
In a repeated attempt, officials of the survey department tried to demarcate private land located in Mathagal, Usumathurai area, owned by Tamils.
“Unfortunately, Norhern Provivce Sri Lankan governer also supporting this illegal activities, we will protest against this Governor’s human right violation in the future, Kanakaratnam Sugash a local lawyer told the media.
The Sri Lankan government has abandoned many similar attempts after facing strong protest from the local population.
However, the Sri Lankan government is continuously grabbing Tamils lands illegally to demolish their political aspirations using foreign investment and aids.
