Six persons were killed and more than 10 others were hospitalised after a passenger ferry capsized in the Kuringankerni lagoon in Kinniya.
Local sources said students were among the dead. The injured were admitted to the Trincomalee and Kinniya Hospitals.
Search operation to locate the missing persons is currently going on. The ferry had been used by residents of this area due to constructions of existing Kurinchankerny bridge.
