The Relatives of the missing persons in Vavuniya have vehemently opposed the Sri Lankan President and war criminal Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s move to issue death certificates to missing persons. They also condemned the arrest of Tamil Parliamentarian Kajendran for paying tributes to Thileepan.
“It is unacceptable to arrest the Parliamentarian while paying his tributes to the dead one. It is violation of international law. We strongly opposed the Gotabaya’s plan to issue death ceritifcates to our missed children,” the relatives said.
Earlier, while meeting with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Gotabaya said that the Sri Lankan government would take immediate action with regard to missing persons and expedite the efforts such as the issuance of death certificates.
