Protest against the Trinco oil farm agreement with India

Trade unions and Sinhala people protest against the Trincomalee oil farm agreement, which was signed between India and Sri Lanka.

The protest took place on the Trincomalee-Batticaloa-China Bay main road under the auspices of the United Trade Union Confederation on yesterday (11). It was attended by United People’s Power MPs Ashoka Abeysinghe, Imran Mahroob and trade union representatives.

The agreement to supply Trincomalee oil tanks to India was signed on the 6th. Treasury Secretary, Land Commissioner General, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Lanka IOC Representatives of the company and Trinco Petroleum Reminal Ltd. signed the agreement. Meanwhile, the unions had already expressed strong opposition to the supply of Trincomalee oil tanks to the Indian company.
