Procession held demand justice for assassination of Joseph Pararajasingham

Today (25) marks the 16th anniversary of the death of former Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian and human rights activist Joseph Pararajasingham, who was shot dead by pro Sri Lankan government paramilitary Pillaiyan group during a Christmas return puja.

He was shot dead and his wife was seriously injured during a midnight Christmas service at St. Mary’s Church in Puliyandivu, Batticaloa on 25-12-2005.

The 16th Remembrance Day of Joseph Pararajasingham was commemorated in Batticaloa today by the Youth Front of the Sri Lanka Tamil National Party.

Prior to the event, a procession marched from the Batticaloa city’s living memorial to the Charles Hall with black bands on their arms and necks to demand justice for assassination.

The procession also proceeded to the Cathedral of St. Mary, where the former Member of Parliament Joseph Pararajasingam was assassinated, where candles were lit and worship was performed.
