Paddy harvesting ceremony was held at Nallur Kanthaswamy Temple yesterday morning (17). The temple trustee and priests went to the temple-owned paddy field in Madduvil to harvest the first paddy during this cultural festival which will be observed on the first day of Thaipoosam (holly day in January).
Rice was prepared from the paddy harvested in that field were offered to Kandan.Following this, the offering of rice to the devotees is traditionally celebrated as a cultural festival.
This year marks the 288th anniversary of the Paddy harvesting festival.
