Modi pays special focus on Sri Lanka

The Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Mr. Gopal Baglay has called on Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena on Tuesday (28) in Parliament.

The Speaker stated that India was the first country to offer support to Sri Lanka during the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka in the past and he expressed his gratitude for that.

Furthermore, the Speaker appreciated the High Commissioner of India for his cooperation in developing Indo-Sri Lanka relations during his period holding office.

During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is paying special focus on Sri Lanka and that India holds a favourable stance with regard to Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring.
