Sri Lankan Police based in Pansiyagama, Kurunegala District of the North Western Province has asked the teenage student to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for an investigation regarding a Facebook meme.
The meme has depicted the Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe like current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“Saliya Kanugala, a 17-year-old AL student of Kumbukgete Central College in North-Western Sri Lanka, has been asked by Pansiyagama police to present himself at #CID HQ on 15 Sept. in relation to an investigation into a Facebook meme he shared two months ago,” Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka (JDS) tweeted.
