A protest was held in Batticaloa, Eastern Province, against the Sri Lankan government proposed Kotelawala National Defence University (KNDU) Bill.
The Sri Lankan students, teachers community worries that the bill could pave the way for privatization of the higher education sector and militarisation of universities.
The protest was jointly organized by Ceylon’s Teachers Union, Teachers’ Association of Eastern University and civil society groups.
