India gifted machinery parts worth 120 million Lankan Rupees to enhance the maintenance capability of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha yesterday.
The initiative by India to provide support to Sri Lanka has taken place under the guise of maritime security and capacity building.
“In continuation to India’s defense cooperation initiatives with Sri Lanka, towards Maritime Security and capacity building, Government of India gifted Sri Lanka, 650 machinery parts worth 120 million rupees to augment maintenance capability of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha that was presented by Government of India in October 2017,” the High Commission of India said in a statement.
