Human Rights Commission seeks explanation from Jaffna SL military commander on Ponnalai incident

The Jaffna district commander of the Sri Lankan Army has been asked for clarification on the Ponnalai incident, the Human Rights Commission’s Jaffna Regional Coordinator K Kanakaraj said. 

The incident has reported in Ponnalai West area of Jaffna on Sunday night, in that army soldiers turned off the flashing electric lights on the street, threatened people and searched houses. They also chased and attacked the Tamil youths in the area.

People in this area have registered complaint with the Vadukkottai police station in connection with the attack by Sri Lankan Army soldiers and intimidation by breaking into people’s houses in Ponnalai West.
