Families of the disappeared protest in Vavuniya

Families of the disappeared said Tamils needed the help of the US, EU and India to create the economy plundered by the Sri Lankan Army while commenting after the demonstration in Vavuniya today.

“Mothers who have lost their children and husbands in our land are struggling for their livelihood. At present, remittance from relatives living in western countries is the primary economic source of the Tamils. But, unfortunately, this money only helps few families.

Our economy has been plundered by the Sri Lankan army, especially agriculture, business, fishing, and infrastructures have been destroyed. More than 2 million Tamils live in exile, and hence Tamils have more capacity to create an economy source for the community.”
