Entire govt. should resign – Island –wide strike today

The trade unions of all state and semi-state institutions will go on a one-day island-wide strike today (08), said the Co-Convener of the Trade Union Coordinating Center Udeni Dissanayake.

All trade unions are participating in this. We invite all working people in this country to join us in ousting this corrupt government. ” he added.

Meanwhile, former minister Wimal Weerawansa said today that the whole government, including Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa should resign and allow an interim government to be formed with the participation of all parties in Parliament.

He told Parliament that Sri Lanka should seek at least US$ 4 or 5 billion from friendly nations to increase foreign reserves. But the government is not in a position to do so as it has lost faith globally.
