Discussion between Mahinda Rajapaksa and teachers union ends without solution 

The discussion held Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the teachers’ and principals’ trade unions today at the Prime Minister’s office ended without a solution, according to the trade union representatives.

Colombo Page reported that Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin said that a decision regarding the Prime Minister’s proposal presented to pay salaries in two stages will be taken after discussions tomorrow (13) morning.

At the discussion this afternoon, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated that the government will agree to increase salaries in two stages as a solution to the struggle by the trade unions to eliminate teacher-principal salary anomalies.
