Covid-19 travel restrictions in Sri Lanka: Hunger crisis among people of Mannar

Thousands of families engaged in daily wage labour have been widely affected in the Mannar district of Norther Province due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions in Sri Lanka.

Some families have been forced to pick clams in muddy water and meet their food requirements.

Moreover, people living in the Ganesapuram area of Mannar Manthai West go into the forest and collect wild fruits for their survival.

They also catch fish in small ponds in many areas of the Mannar district and sell them and make their livelihood. The people of Mannar are starving to survive every day in this ongoing pandemic restrictions.
