China turned toward Tamils and Opposition party?

The Chinese government donated eight lifesaving Kidney Dialysis Machines worth Rs. 20 million to hospitals in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

After the three-day visit to the North last week by the Chinese embassy delegation led by Ambassador Qi Zhenhong, the Chinese embassy said following a request from Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, it handed over a donation of eight lifesaving Kidney Dialysis Machines.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said this is special, as it is the first time that a foreign mission has donated funds to an opposition party. This means that we have managed to win China’s confidence.

“We have donated medical equipment worth Rs. 101 million to 34 hospitals since the COVID19 pandemic hit the country,” he added.

However, Colombo based political circle believes that the China turned its eyes towards Tamils and opposition party as the Sri Lankan Government is now expecting a USD 1.9 billion worth economic rescue package from India.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Government of Sri Lanka should expedite negotiations with India and get assistance to purchase fuel and essential items, the exchange rate issue has taken to the worse. Government must either go to IMF immediately or come up with a viable alternative. It has failed to do anything,” Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.
