Today marks the 34th anniversary of the massacre Tamils civilians by Indian army.

In memory of those who were shot dead by the Indian Army, a public flame was lit by the relatives of the victims and wreaths were laid at the portraits of the slain.

The Director, Deputy Director and staff of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital were present at the event.The Indian Army entered the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on October 21, 1987 and 68 people were mercilessly shot dead by the Indian army. Nurses, staffs and patients are killed in this massacre, including Dr, Parimalajagar, Dr. Ganesaratnam, Dr. Sivapathasundaram, Chief Nursing Officer Mrs. B. Vadivelu, and hospital staff, who were being treated there.
