Colombo High Court Wednesday ordered the prison officials to produce former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley, who was remanded under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, before court on the 25th October, Colombo Page reported.
Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja directed the Superintendent of Prisons to produce Azath Salley in court after considering a request made by President’s Counsel Maithri Gunaratne, who appeared for Azath Salley, when the case against him was called through a motion.
President’s Counsel Gunaratne said that although the case against his client was due to be taken up in November, he requested that an order be issued to summon the case in a short time as he has been remanded for a long time.
